The Accordion Shop
The Accordion Shop offers a full accordion repair and restoration service from our showroom in Sunningdale, Berkshire. We work with several professional and highly experienced technicians around the country who can repair any type of accordion, melodeon, concertina or other free reed instrument. Work ranges from a single sticking key through to complete internal restoration, and we assess every instrument in person before quoting.

Why We Can't Quote Over the Phone
Because of the individual nature of accordion repair and restoration, we can't give quotes or offer advice over the phone or by email. We always need to physically see and play the instrument first.

This isn't us being difficult. An accordion has several thousand components, and problems that sound identical when described can have completely different causes and costs. A note that won't sound might be a valve that's curled, a reed that's cracked, a leaking wax joint, or a mechanical fault in the key - anything from a few minutes' work to a job that isn't economic at all. Quoting blind would mean either overcharging you or quoting a figure we then have to revise, and we won't do either.
Frequently asked repair questions
It depends entirely on the work. A minor adjustment might be done quickly; a full internal restoration is a substantial job and can take considerably longer. We'll give you a realistic timescale when we quote.
There's no standard price, which is why we assess every instrument in person. Costs range from modest adjustments to full rebuilds costing more than many instruments are worth - and if that's the case, we'll tell you.
Usually not, and we'd generally advise against it. Most 1920s and 1930s accordions need complete internal restoration costing far more than the instrument is worth, and most technicians now decline this work. Read our guide to pre-war accordions →
Retuning is possible on many instruments, but whether a particular accordion can be retuned to a given setup depends on its reed configuration. Bring it in and we'll tell you.
