Why it matters to play them

An accordion has to fit the person playing it. Weight, the reach across the treble keyboard, bellows resistance and the character of the tuning are things you can only judge with the instrument on. Two accordions with identical specifications on paper can feel entirely different, and half an hour comparing a few of them usually tells you more than weeks of research.

 

Folk clubs and coastal traditions

Southampton and the surrounding area have a long folk club history, and free reed instruments run right through it. We stock melodeons, concertinas and button accordions as well as piano accordions, so tell us what you actually play rather than what you assume you should buy.

 

Repairs, MIDI fitting and part exchange

We arrange repair and restoration through specialist free reed technicians, fit internal microphones and MIDI systems to any make and model, take instruments in part exchange and buy them outright. Ring first if you are bringing something in to be looked at.
