At around forty-five miles you are comfortably within day-trip distance, and we would encourage it. We hold around 170 instruments in stock and everything on the floor is available to play — most people find that comparing three or four side by side settles the question far faster than any amount of reading.

 

Morris, folk and the melodeon

Morris dancing is long established across Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, and the melodeon is the characteristic instrument for a great deal of that repertoire. We stock melodeons and concertinas alongside piano and button accordions, and we are happy to say plainly when the instrument someone asked about is not the one that suits the music they actually play.

 

Playing for dancing

If you play out, weight and key matter differently from playing at home — you are on your feet, often outdoors, and often for a long time. We would rather steer you to a lighter instrument you will still enjoy at the end of a long afternoon.

 

Repairs, part exchange and valuations

We arrange repair and restoration through specialist free reed technicians, take instruments in part exchange, and buy them outright. If you are bringing something in to be valued, ring first so the right person is here to look at it.
