The Accordion Shop is a fifth generation family business that has specialised in selling and repairing accordions for the best part of a century.
The company was founded in Bristol in 1927 by the current owner’s great grandfather, Handel Lovell, who was a professional accordion and piano player as well as a highly acclaimed composer and bandleader.
In the post war years, Handel moved his business to London where his son Coe Lovell took over the day to day running of the company. In 1969, Coe’s son, Bev Lovell, opened a new shop in Staines, and in 1972 a northern branch was opened in Rochdale.
The current premises in Sunningdale, Berkshire were opened in 1993 and are run today by the father and son team of Bev and Chris Lovell, who are currently training up generation number five, Chris’s daughter Steph. The Rochdale store is managed by Peter McCoy who has been with the company since 1974.
Here at The Accordion Shop, we are passionate about helping each and every one of our customers find the perfect accordion for their individual needs and are always happy to take the time to explain and demonstrate any of the functions of the instruments in our range. We don’t use any high-pressure sales techniques, and our customers are free to browse and play the instruments at their leisure.
The Accordion Shop is staffed by a friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of professional musicians, music teachers and technicians who are always happy to answer any questions, and who between them have well over 175 years of experience in the music industry.
At our stores in Sunningdale and Rochdale, we stock a vast range of new and used accordions suitable for all styles of music ranging from children’s 8 bass accordions, up to full size hand crafted 120 bass professional models, and with prices starting from less than £200, there’s something to suit all budgets. We are also a dealer for the Roland V range of digital accordions, and usually have a large selection of acoustic midi instruments in stock as well.
Each and every one of our accordions comes complete with a case or soft gig bag and shoulder straps, and with the exception of our “Clearance Stock”, every instrument is guaranteed for a period of between one and five years, whilst all of our new accordions are guaranteed for between three and five years. All our prices are fully inclusive of VAT at 20%. Export prices are available on request.
We are official dealers for new instruments from Cooperativa, Brandoni, Excelsior, Paolo Soprani, Bugari, Scandalli, E Soprani, Hohner, Weltmeister, Moreschi, Roland, Chanson and Pearl River and always have many pre-owned models in stock from these and many other manufacturers.
We are open seven days a week including bank holidays, so why not visit us today to try our fantastic range for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you in store soon!
